Initially Seb, working with his cousin, started manufacturing structures in the Midlands. After understanding the mechanics of marquees and learning the marketplace better Seb came to understand there was scope for going into the hire side of the marquee industry, with London being particularly lucrative market. He then made the jump and moved to West London from sunny Leamington Spa.

Being Punjabi himself, Seb had a unique understanding of the Asian events scene so he decided to focus on this customer group. Being able to make structures as well as having opportunities to buy stock meant that Big Marquee was able to gain a market share pretty quickly. It was the company’s work with premier brands and the high net worth customer base that gave Seb the courage and experience to seek out more challenging projects.

One such pivotal project for the Company was the Ditton Manor semi permanent marquee venue project, where Big Marquee supplied the semi permanent marquee structures for over 5 years.

Seb helped the event managers establish the space as a leading marquee event space. Insights and revenue generated from this project enabled the company to reinvest in their asset list and team development so that they could move into both the corporate, temporary structures and consultancy marketplaces.

The company has built a strong industry wide network meaning that the breadth of solutions we can offer is pretty extensive despite the capsule sized team. The Company focuses on working on quality projects rather than volume hire bookings since we like to be vested in the end outcome of the project.
